11th Kubota World Championships

Nigel Nikolaisen, Shito-Kai Canada's Campbell River, B.C. representative (present UCHI-DESHI) of Shihan Sam Moledzki, was crowned Grand Champion of Kata.

Nigel accomplished this by winning 1st Place in the Men's Black Belt Japanese Kata Division; 2nd Place in the Men's Black Belt Okinawan Kata Division; 1st Place in the Men's Black Belt Open Kata Division; and, then, defeating all other Black Belt Kata Division winners and runner-ups to capture the coveted 11th Kubota World Cup Kata Grand Champion title.

  

   

Margaret Maclennan, a recently new Black Belt (May 2003) from Sensei Dave Leduc's Midland, Ontario Shito-Kai Canada YMCA Karate Club, won 1st Place in the Women's Black Belt 35+ Kata Division; 2nd Place in the Women's Black Belt Japanese Kata Division; 2nd Place in the Women's Black Belt Grand Champion Kata Division; and 2nd Place in the Women's Black Belt Kumite Division.

Stephanie Cole, a Brown Belt from Sensei Dave Leduc's Midland, Ontario Shito-Kai Canada YMCA Karate Club, was the 1st Place winner in the Girl's 14-15 Intermediate Kata Division.
